Maui by the Sea is located near some of Maui’s best beaches, whether you like to swim, surf, windsurf, kitesurf, snorkel, or just lounge in the sun.

Several of them are within walking distance, and the rest just a short drive away.

Ho'okipa Beach

The World’s Center for High-Performance Windsurfing

With its steady trade winds, crystal clear waters and outrageous winter surf, Ho’okipa Beach is the world’s premier destination for windsurfing waves.

Ho-okipa is home to the Aloha Classic and other prestigious international professional windsurfing contests. In the summer, when the waves are small, Ho’okipa is a great beach for windsurfers of intermediate and better skill level, but when the winter Northwest swells come in, it’s experts only!

1 mile east of Maui by the Sea, on Hana Highway. Turn left out of the driveway, go past Mama’s Fish House, on to Ho’okipa Beach Park.

Mama's Beach

Possibly the cutest little beach ever!

Mama’s Fish House Beach is a lovely little cove only a short walk from Maui by the Sea. This very scenic little beach is perfect for moms and kids – protected little bathing area and outrageous views.

1 miles east of Maui by the Sea, on Hana Highway. Turn left out of the driveway, park at Mama’s Fish House.

Tavares Bay

Good for the Kids to Surf

Tavares Bay is popular with the local kids as an accessible surf break.

500 feet west of Maui by the Sea, on Hana Highway. Turn right out of the driveway, five houses down is the parking lot (blue tile roof house). Better yet, just walk there!

Paia Beach

Great Beach for Bodyboarding and Bodysurfing

Right in the heart of Paia town is a great little beach, very popular with the local kids. From Paia Beach you can walk all the way to Baby Beach, a 3 mile walk on white sand.

Long White Sand Beach

Baldwin beach is a local favorite for the whole family – protected waters, long stretches of white sand, pavilions, picnic tables, and clear water!

2 miles west of Maui by the Sea. Turn right out of the driveway, go past Paia, and turn right at Baldwin Beach Park.

Baby Beach

Perfect for the Keiki (Children)!

This lovely little section of Baldwin Beach is the perfect place to take your babies and toddlers. There is a protected little bathing area where the waves don’t reach that is just right for dipping the little ones! Very popular with moms and kids.

3 miles west of Maui by the Sea, on Hana Highway. Turn right out of the driveway, go past Paia, past Baldwin Beach, to the second right after Baldwin Beach. After making the right turn, go to the end of the street, turn right, then make your first left, taking it to the sea. Park at the turnaround, and Baby Beach is to your right (East).

Spreckelsville Beach

The North Shore’s Favorite Alternative Windsurfing Beach

Very popular with visiting windsurfers, Sprecklesville Beach is a great place to windsurf for the intermediate and above windsurfers – waves right by the shore, not nearly as challenging as Ho’okipa.

3 miles west of Maui by the Sea, on Hana Highway. Turn right out of the driveway, go past Paia, past Baldwin, to Stable Road. Make a right there, then take the nest right (dirt raod) follow this until you hit the beach – large sand parking lot.

Kanaha Beach Park

The Best Place on Maui to Learn to Windsurf

Kanaha Beach park is the perfect place to learn to windsurf, or to windsurf – good for all skill levels.

Kanaha Beach is where the major Maui windsurfing schools hold their lessons for good reasons: Steady, reliable trade winds, long white sand beaches, convenient to Kahului town, and excellent amenities

5 miles west of Maui by the Sea. Turn right out of the driveway, go past Paia, to Kahului. In Kahului, go through the Dairy Road intersection (Kmart on your right), turn right at the Hobron Avenue intersection, then make the next right at Amala Place. Go down Amala Place until you reach Kanaha Beach Park on your left – there are three entrances to the park.

The World’s Kiteboarding Center

Kite Beach is a great place to kiteboard, or learn to kiteboard – this is where the Maui kiteboarding schools give lessons.

5 miles west of Maui by the Sea. Turn right out of the driveway, go past Paia, to Kahului. In Kahului, go through the Dairy Road intersection (Kmart on your right), turn right at the Hobron Avenue intersection, then make the next right at Amala Place. Go down Amala Place until you reach Kite Beach – there is no sign, but you’ll see the kiteboarding school vans on your left – dirt driveway. If you get to Kanaha Beach Park, you’ve gone too far!
