Property & Layout

  • Private cottage: Located 150 feet from the ocean (rocky shoreline in front of the property, with a sandy beach within walking distance).

  • Space: 500 square feet upstairs + a 200-square-foot covered lanai.

  • Views: Breathtaking views of the ocean, West Maui Mountains, Haleakala Volcano, and our lush tropical garden.

  • Bedroom: 1 Bedroom with 1 Queen Bed and 100% cotton linens.

  • Bathroom: 1 Full Bath (bath towels + beach towels provided, plus hair dryer, iron, and ironing board).

Kitchen & Dining

  • Full Kitchen: Includes microwave oven, toaster, electric kettle, smoothie blender, rice cooker, and more (please note: no dishwasher).

  • For Coffee Lovers: Equipped with electric and hand grinders, a standard coffee maker, a French press, and an Aeropress.

  • Water Quality: Filtered drinking water + a whole-house chlorine filter.

  • Grilling: Weber gas grill located upstairs on the private deck.

Comfort & Entertainment

  • Climate Control: Central Air Conditioning + ceiling fans in both rooms.

  • Entertainment: 48″ Samsung HD Flat Screen SmartTV with Xumo/Spectrum box + Blu-ray DVD player.

  • Connectivity: Free wireless internet access.

Beach Gear & Wellness

  • Beach Access: Sandy beach access within short walking distance.

  • Gear Provided: Beach chairs and yoga mats.

Logistics & Security

  • Private Laundry: LG washer and dryer located downstairs in the garage area.

  • Parking: Designated parking for one car on the driveway, located in the space between the cottage and the main house.

  • Secure Entry: Secure automatic gate—you’ll use a private keypad code for your arrival, and we’ll provide a gate remote for the rest of your stay.

  • Property Security: Combination safe inside the cottage, a Master Lock box for cottage keys, and a security camera located in the downstairs garage.

Starter Supplies

    • Welcome Packs: Supplies provided for every new arrival to get you started (paper towels, toilet paper, body soap, shampoo, liquid kitchen/bathroom soaps, and trash bags).

We are a no-smoking facility. Absolutely no smoking, no candle burning inside or outside the unit nor on the property.

Privately nestled among lush tropical fruit trees, heliconias, and bamboos, the Maui by the Sea cottage sits just behind our main house. The layout ensures total privacy for everyone, while keeping us close by whenever you need directions, local info, or want to talk story.

A sweet little white sand beach is just a short walk down the road (past only 5 houses). It’s a perfect spot to swim, snorkel, or see the local fishermen casting poles from the shore. It is also a very special beach where green sea turtles love to come out and sleep on the sand!

You can also just relax at home in the lawn chairs, which offer a front-row view of the surfers catching waves right in front of the property (with the surf running from September through May or June).

Disclosures

  • A secure, digital Rental Agreement will be sent via email to review and submit online at the time of booking.
  • The Maui by the Sea Cottage sits off the Hana Highway (which operates as a local two-lane island road). At times, excessive road noise may be audible. To maximize guest comfort, the cottage features high-quality insulation and central air conditioning. 
  • From the guest cottage you look over the roof of the owner’s house to the ocean. Our guests are very welcome to walk anywhere on the property and use the lawn chairs by the ocean. There is no beach in front of the property, it is a rocky shoreline, yet it is possible to access to the water for snorkeling and surfing from Tavares Beach (Kaulahao Beach) which is a 2mn walk from the cottage.
  • Despite our strict quarterly professional pest control treatments with Terminix and regular, diligent preventative maintenance, the outdoor and indoor environments may occasionally experience tropical creatures. These include, but are not limited to: ants, gecko lizards, flies, bees, beetles, roaches, toads, centipedes, millipedes, small scorpions, rodents, and spiders. The presence of occasional tropical insects or wildlife is a natural part of the island ecosystem.
